SOUND FOCUS 4: REGULAR PAST TENSE ENDINGS
Review voiced vs voiceless sounds.
If the base verb ends in the sound /t/ or /d/, the ed ending is pronounced as an extra syllable /!d/ or /!d/. If it ends in any of the voiceless consonant sounds except /t/, the ending is pronounced only as the added sound of voiceless /t/. If it ends in a voiwel sound or any voiced consonant sound except /d/, the ending is pronounced only as the added sound of voiced /d/.
