In lesson 5, we will learn all about Phonic Sounds Blending, Segmentation, and Substitution. Blending: Every letter of the English alphabet has a sound. While blending, we join the sounds of the letters to form new words. /b/+/ă/+/t/=bat The three letter words formed by blending sounds of letters are known as CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) Words. It’s easy to pronounce the sound of the individual letters, but usually, it is very hard to connect the three sounds to form a word. We have included the spatial movement of letters to form a word. This helps in visual stimulation and proper understanding of blending of sounds.  Segmentation: Breaking down a word into its individual sounds. When one hears the word “bat ", we hear three sounds /b/, /ă/, /t/. Taking a word and stretching it into its individual sounds is called segmentation. While segmenting, it is also significant to understand the beginning, middle and ending sounds of letters. In the word bat, Beginning sound /b/ Middle sound /ă/ Ending sound /t/ Substitution: Word Families contain words that end with the same rhyming words. -at word family: ends with at. Substitute the beginning letter with other letters and see new words form. b+at=bat c+at=cat f+at=fat p+at=pat m+at=mat r+at=rat s+at=sat Make sure to Like, Favorite and Share this video and Subscribe if you haven't done so already at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7iNDt-mBBwYiooKOj4QZMw?sub_confirmation=1
