The overhead press is not just a shoulder exercise, it's key for developing a strong core and trunk stability for better swimming, cycling, and running. Having trouble accessing your lats in the water? Chances are your shoulders are dumped inwards and your elbows are flared out. The press teaches you how to resist that inward rotation while simultaneously developing your shoulder mobility overhead. We develop and use these same skills here for our cycling posture and also for our arm swim while running.
