Tanfield Railway's "Legends of Industry" Gala on Sept 7&8 2013.
Resident locos in use were Twizell, Sir Cecil A. Cochrane, Diesel Electric Armstrong No 2 and also the recently restored Hawthorn Leslie No.2. The ever faithful "Husky" helped out with shunting duties.
Alfred & Judy, The Port of Par twin locomotives, who were the inspiration for Bill & Ben in Thomas the Tank Engine came to visit.
The Gala also features model railways,model boats, vintage cars, and Tanfield's narrow gauge diesel engine running on a section of track.
Due to ongoing track work towards East Tanfield, trains terminated at Causey Arch, which is the oldest railway bridge in the world, well known as a local beauty spot and the remains of an original coal waggonway.
