Correction to the video: the 100 uF or 1000 uF capacitor must be a 40 V (minimum) or 50 Volt type. This circuit was developed for a motor circle dynamo that gives 12-18/20 Volt AC at approx. 10 Watts or more. In real the output voltage from these AC dynamo's go between 12 V and 18/20 Volt at 1-2 Amp, depends on the load (incandescent lamps). The 6 LED's are mounted inside the lamp enclosure, next to the original incandescant lamp from 20 Watt-12 V or so. When the incandescent lamp burns out, the 6 white LED's give enough light to be visible in the dark. That is the reason why the circuit is low tech; it also has to work under harsh conditions. Please watch the next video, in which I publish another low tech white LED driver; the transistor is replaced by a resistor there. More circuits in my books on the Lulu website, author Ko Tilman.
