Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2016 Ford Transit 350 we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt class three two inch trailer hitch receiver. Now this hitch is going to function great not only for recreational purposes, like if you need it to use with a bike rack or cargo carrier, but it's also going to be great for towing. Now we noticed our customers typically use these vans for either work or to haul around a bunch of people. So the weight capacity of our hitch is probably going to be of importance to you. As far as a maximum tongue weight rating goes, that's 800 pounds. So that's going to be the amount of weight pushing down on our hitch. As far as the maximum gross trailer weight rating goes, it's going to be 8,000 pounds. So it'll be the amount of weight pulling. So it'll be the weight of your trailer plus anything you might have on it.Now this hitch can be used with a weight distribution system and if you use one of those, our weight capacities do increase. The maximum tongue weight rating increases to 1,000 pounds and the maximum gross trailer weight rating increases to 10,000 pounds. But it's always a good idea to check with your Ford's owner's manual to make sure you can pull that much weight. So if you're primarily going to be using this hitch for towing purposes, I would recommend getting some wiring. That way your lights on your trailer can function properly. Also, if your trailer has breaks, you could look into an ETBC7, which is wiring kit that you can use with a brake controller. Now it is going to use the standard five eight size pin, which does not come included with the hitch. But if you need one you can pick it up on etrailer.com Now it does have a plate style safety chain openings, which are large enough to use just about any size hook that you might have without interference. Now I'm going to give you a couple of measurements. These are going to help you when deciding which hitch mounted accessories to use. From the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening, it's about 14 and a half inches. You're gonna use that measurement to figure out if you need to get a ball mount with either a drop or a rise. From the center of the hitch Pinhole to the outermost edge of our rear bumper, that's about seven and a half inches. You're gonna use that measurement to figure out if any folding accessories you might have can be stored in the upright position without contacting the bumper. Some of our customers have written in and said they had a little bit of difficulty with the installation of our hitch. Now it's really not too involved and I'll show you how to do that here in just a moment. To begin our installation, I went ahead and removed our spare tire to give us a little more room to work. Now I'd just like to point out where our attachment points are going to be that's going to hold our hitch into place. We're going to use these two factory bolts here, this hole on the bottom side of the frame rail, and then this small hole up front, which we'll drill out later. No, it's going to be the exact same setup on the other side, so keep that in mind. Anything we do to this side we'll also do to the other. What we're going to do now is remove these two factory bolts using a 15 millimeter socket. Now we're going to enlarge this small hole towards the back of our Ford. Now you can find the proper size that you're going to have to drill it out to in the instructions. Now what I'm going to do is just take some spray paint and put some paint over that raw metal just to help prevent any rust or corrosion. At this point we can now fish wire our hardware into the frame rail. Now to do that on this hole closest towards the front of the van. What we're going to do is take the coiled end of our fish wire and push it through until it comes out this side. Now what we'll do is take the spacer block, put it over the coil bend, and then thread our carriage bolt onto the fish wire. Then you just feed all the hardware into the frame rail. Pull it down like that. It's going to be very similar for this hole. What we're going to do is take the coil bend and push it through the hole. It'll come up out of the top of the frame rail. Once again, our spacer block and our carriage bolt. And drop it down like that. All right. Now with an extra set of hands, we can put our hitch into place. Now we're going to run our f
