DAVID HAMILTON: Children of the Fire Gods

‘Children of the Fire Gods’ was inspired by the legend of the fire goddess Mahuika, a ‘tupua’ couple and the god of earthquakes and eruptions, Mataoho. Quarreling and strife, so the legend tells, resulted in the creation of Lake Pupuke and Rangitoto island. David Squire conducts the Westlake Symphony Orchestra in this recording from the auditorium of Westlake Boys’ High School.
