(9 Jan 2019) China's premier on Tuesday said he hoped Tesla could be a "promoter of the stability of China-US relations".
Li Keqiang made the comment during a meeting in Beijing with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and other executives of the company.
Tesla Inc. broke ground Monday for a factory in Shanghai, its first outside the United States.
Musk said on Twitter that the company will start production in China of its Model 3 vehicle and a planned crossover by the end of the year.
It comes despite trade tension between Beijing and Washington.
