In this video, I share with you the 5 benefits I have received from quitting alcohol for 365 days.
I know a lot of people struggle, so I wanted to share the benefits I have personally found with stopping drinking alcohol. I’m going to outline each of those benefits in this post.
The first - and the most dramatic change - is in:
1. Clarity.
When I drank alcohol, I lacked clarity. When I mention clarity, I am talking about having a vision of how I wanted my life to look. I was too invested in the short term and rarely had a solid vision for the long term.
Even if I had a vision for the long term, I knew it would never come true because of how out of control my drinking was.
When I stopped drinking, the world seemed clearer - like a fog had been lifted. Within a few weeks of stopping, I relaunched my personal training business, and since then I decided to move to Thailand. It was a vision I had since my early 20s - and now it has been made possible. I would not be here if I was still drinking. I am certain of that.
When you stop drinking, the clarity you can gain in your life is tremendous.
The second thing is my:
2. Health
I know drinking alcohol can really screw you up health-wise, but we all know that and scare tactics just don’t help… so instead, I’m talking about the short term.
I would wake up with more energy and I was able to hit the gym much more intensely. I was able to train way more consistently. And, instead of hitting the bar at 7 pm, I’d often be in the gym instead.
It’s not the same for everyone, but when you stop drinking, you should end up feeling much better health-wise.
The third benefit is :
3. Friendships
Instead of building a network of acquaintances that fuelled my drinking, I built real, long-lasting friendships.
I built friendships with people who are interested in building a friendship - not self-serving friends that want to support their own drinking and use you as a means to an end…
When you stop drinking, you start upgrading your friends. Good, understanding, empathetic people respect your decision to not drink.
The fourth thing is:
4. Financial
I’m not talking about the money you save (which is a great bonus), but the confidence and clarity you can gain to start making more money.
In my experience, my income went much higher, because I took risks in self-employment that paid off - and put the work in.
The final benefit is:
5. Decrease in Anxiety and Depression.
I still suffer from anxiety some days, but they are much less intense and much less frequent. It didn’t go away 100%, but it is definitely a huge benefit…
Anyway, I hope this post brought some value to you. If you are currently struggling, I promise you, it’s worth it…Keep pushing. You can do this too.
