Spain: Anti-fascists and far-right groups take to Barcelona streets on Columbus Day

Dozens of demonstrators from nationalist and far-right groups marched through the streets of Barcelona on Tuesday, while in another part of the city anti-fascist groups protested against the celebration of Columbus Day.

Footage shows the far-right demonstrators marching with Spanish flags while performing the Roman salute and burning a Catalan flag.

Meanwhile, the anti-fascist group marched in repudiation of the celebration of Columbus Day and burned flags of Spain and the European Union.

Both demonstrations were heavily guarded by the police and the two groups did not meet. Columbus Day is a national festival in Spain and commemorates the arrival of Christopher Columbus in Americas in 1492.
