Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that the director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi has been invited to visit Iran in the near future.

“He (Rafael Grossi) has been invited [to visit Iran], the date for his trip was suggested. God willing, he will leave for Iran soon. We are waiting for his answer,” said Khatibzadeh, ahead of key Vienna nuclear talks, during a press conference in Tehran, on Monday.

Khatibzadeh didn’t mention whether Grossi’s trip would take place before the nuclear summit in Vienna, on November 29.

“Our focus in Vienna will be on the entire, effective, and verifiable lifting of sanctions. What the United States needs to prove is that it can effectively lift sanctions, with the necessary guarantees,” Khatibzadeh added, referring to the talks, which are set to restart between Iran and world powers in hopes of saving the 2015.

Last week Grossi revealed his ‘astonishment’ that there had been no dialogue between the UN atomic agency watchdog and President Ebrahim Raisi’s government, since being elected in June.

God willing, if he gives us an answer for [arranging] the date of the trip, he will meet the head of the Atomic Energy Organisation [of Iran] and also the [Iranian] Minister of Foreign Affairs in his trip, God willing. I think it should be allowed to continue in its normal course.”

And we will continue our talks and we will ask for guarantees in Vienna based on the same words and the same actions.”

All of this will be reviewed and summarised in the same process, and will be emphasised in the negotiations.”
