The Wreck of the Inchulva rests about 150 yards off the south end of Delray's Public Beach in about 20 feet of water. Known as the Delray Wreck the ship sank September 11, 1903 in an unnamed hurricane. The Inchulva was grounded in shallow water and broke up. The 38 crew did not know land was so close. Nine crewman died that day. The Delray Wreck was a 386-foot steel-hulled steamship schooner. There are three pieces to the wreck each about 200 feet from each other about 150 yards east from the boat ramp. Hurricane Irma uncovered about 15 feet of wreck so it is now exposed and a nice place to dive and snorkel with lots of fish and lobsters. The Delray Wreck is great for snorkeling or beginner scuba divers.
