From http://YouPlusDallas.com - Between Lake Highlands and Lakewood, an oasis of blue Dallas' White Rock Lake is a 1,015 acre lake offers beautiful vistas of Downtown Dallas, over nine miles of hike and bike trails, an Audubon Society-designated bird watching area and wetlands site, scenic picnic areas, special events facilities, fishing piers, a dog park, the Dallas Arboretum and the Bath House Cultural Center. There are many activities to choose from upon arrival at White Rock Lake. Here are three of our favorites. Rowing: Here, you can enjoy open water rowing courtesy of White Rock Boathouse. They offer memberships which provide access to the Boathouse's shared boats. They also provide rowing lessons, enabling even beginners to enjoy the sport in only a few days of lessons and practice. Visit the Corinthian Sailing Club at http://www.cscsailing.org/ Cycling: White Rock Lake has over 9 miles of bike trails and beautiful scenery. Nature: Hundreds of species of wildlife make their home at our lake. You can birdwatch near the spillway or watch the pelicans on E. Lawther Trail. Centenniel: In March of this year, White Rock Lake will host a centenniel celebration beginning beginning March 19 and running through June 26, 2011 hosted by over 20 lake user groups and led by Honorary Chairman Ebby Halliday.
