The National Broadband Network is the largest Australian infrastructure project ever. It will provide a new broadband network, completed by 2021.
As well as building a new network, the NBN will also transform the Australian broadband industry. NBN Co, the company building the NBN, will replace Telstra as the main wholesale broadband service provider.
The NBN will provide a Fibre to the Premises connection for 93% of the population. 4% will get a fixed wireless broadband service, the remaining 3% will get a satellite broadband service.
For minimal Internet users, or those with a fixed line voice service only, the NBN prices will be around the same as current prices. Subscribers using higher speed NBN services may pay more than they currently do.
