VE Day Celebrations in Europe Amid Coronavirus Lockdown

The 8th of May 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of VE Day, Victory in Europe Day, the date when Nazi commanders signed their surrender to Allied forces, ending both World War II in Europe and the Holocaust.

Major events were cancelled in the UK, France and Germany due to coronavirus lockdowns, and were replaced by low-key ceremonies to still remember the sacrifices the war generation made.

The Red Arrows conducted a spectacular aerial performance over Buckingham Palace and other London landmarks.
