Using MFX 21 to PITCH SHIFT a sample across SP404A pads like a MPC [Beat Making Tutorial] 2019

In this session I attempt to use the Pitch Shift on the Roland SP-404A to take a sample and pitch it across the pads, kind of like a MPC's 16 Levels/Note Var/Tuning but go for a Em Blues Scale type note choice instead of chromatic. 0:04 - Using the SP404A's in-built mic I record an E from an acoustic guitar... 0:19 - First, let's fast foward to a demo of the fruits of my labours. Here I jam to some drums, playing chords kind of like I would on a piano. 0:48 - Now, rewind to the start of the process. After trimming my E note (Pad 5) I use MFX 21 to change the pitch then resample...I'm doing this by ear so it's a little loose...next time, use I'd use a guitar tuner. I remove the CTRL knob to try to get better accuracy. 6:14 - From low to high, here's my notes: E G B D E G A Bb B D E G 6:27 - Fine tuning the start of the samples, pitch shifting can effect the attack of the samples. 7:12 - I don't really like how it sounds so I put Vinyl Sim on all the pads, this also helps ties them all together sonically. 7:26 - Now to jam with it for a bit... It's interesting, definitely not as smooth as what a MPC does...Next time I do this I might try using Octave [MFX 11] to pitch notes - say, start with an E, make a G & B, then use MFX 11 to pitch them.
