Umbilical Hernia

Our six-week-old son was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia (the abdominal wall hadn't fully closed and healed), which his intestine was poking through. We were able to see his intestine moving and digesting, which is freaky to say the least. Luckily umbilical hernias are apparently quite common (they're the main reason someone might have an outie belly button), and don't require surgery unless they haven't healed by age 2 or 3. So if you see this on your baby don't freak out, but I would recommend you probably ask your pediatrician about it.
