Over the years the Taiyuan Puppet Theatre Company has produced numerous visual music theatre productions that have been performed in over 30 countries around the world. Their new production, The Mark of Desire, is a groundbreaking performance that incorporates live music, actors, masks, storytellers, giant puppets and video projection. The story is an adaptation of a traditional tale of one of Chinas most famous beauties, Wang Zhaojun. The story is now placed in the 21st century and Wang is no longer the docile Chinese woman who does her duty for the fatherland. Instead she is a modern independent woman who is a talented musician and who chooses her own destiny in a world dominated by men. The story is voyage into the realm of love between a woman and a man, female independence, intense passion and male sexual desire. 《淚痣圖》把時代背景放在21世紀，王昭君已不再是溫順的中國古典的美才女，她重生的靈魂，這一次是在祕密組織裡負責伺候主席的情慾，當她遇到攝影師毛延壽，他們戀愛了，毛為了不讓主席選上王昭君，他在照片上點一顆淚痣，也鑄下毀滅的種子。王在最後選擇自由，她離開佔有和操縱的愛情。
