Learn how to fry a garlic steak in a black bean sauce & serve on a hot plate
Welcome to Xiao's Kitchen. My name is Xiao Wei, ever since my Mother taught me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for Cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and learn new Chinese recipes.
Ingredients:
200g Beef Fillet
Half Green Pepper
Half Red Pepper
Half Onion
4 Cloves Garlic
1 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tbsp Chinese Cooking Wine
1 Tsp Coarse Black Pepper
2 Tbsp Black Bean Sauce
Salt to Taste
Method:
1. Slice the garlic and onion.
2. Slice the green and red peppers.
3. Slice the beef into medium threads and place in a mixing bowl.
4. Add the salt, sugar, cooking wine and black pepper.
5. Add 20ml of water to the mixing bowl and mix all ingredients together.
6. Then cover and leave to marinate for 20 minutes.
7. Place an iron steak plate over a flame and heat over medium heat.
8. Heat half a litre of oil in the wok, once the oil is hot then turn heat to low.
9. Place beef one piece at the time and fry for 10 seconds until turned to paler colour.
10.Remove the beef from the oil and place onto a dish, leave about 2 Tbsp of oil in the wok and discard the rest.
11. Turn heat to high. add garlic and onion to the wok, fry for few seconds.
12. Add the peppers and stir-fry for a minute.
13. Add the beef back.
14. Add the black bean sauce and stir-fry for a minute.
15. Transfer beef onto the hot iron plate, place an iron plate on a wooden stand and serve.
