The global programme Combating Illicit Financial Flows has been commissioned by BMZ to implement activities aiming at prevention, financial investigation and asset recovery with a view to enhancing the capacities of partner countries in Latin America, Africa and Western Balkans to combat illicit financial flows. In Macedonia, the programme has piloted an initiative to combat the illicit transfer of cash across borders. For this purpose, the global programme purchased dogs and conducted trainings to teach the dogs and the dog handlers of the Macedonian K-9 Unit to train them to detect the smell of cash banknotes (Euros). The video shows their training, their abilities and explains how the initiative can greatly contribute to the fight against illicit financial flows in the region.
