북한 최태복, 동남아 순방하려다 무산…외교고립 심화하는 북한
North Korea reportedly tried to break its isolation last month by attempting to send a senior official to countries in Southeast Asia.
According to Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency on Sunday, the vice chair of the ruling Workers' Party's central committee, Choe Tae-bok,... planned to visit Vietnam, Laos and Indonesia in February or March.
But he was turned down earlier this month... as part of those countries' efforts to abide by UN resolutions condemning Pyongyang's missile and nuclear weapons development.
A rare move as Southeast Asian countries with communist backgrounds have generally been favorable towards North Korea.
