One of the three GAZ-21 'Volga' cars produced in a limited series to honour of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s birthday is to go up for sale for 21 million roubles (€290,000, $337,000) in Saint Petersburg, as seen in footage shot on Thursday.
Although the Russian leader himself never drove this particular vehicle, the company that is selling the car, Smirnov Design Bureau, says it is the one of the three made specifically for Putin.
Director of the agency, Alexander Smirnov, explained that the money generated from the sale will be used to restore the bureau’s car collection.
The 2.7 litre, 150 horsepower Volga was produced as a limited edition by the Gorky Automobile Factory in 2004.
