Ghana is one of the world's top 10 gold producers, but a report released by Human Rights Watch has revealed that the country has the WORST form of child labour in the mining sector. The report also revealed that the use of child labour is prevalent in artisan and small-scale mines in Ghana's Western, Central, and Ashanti Regions, which focuses on unlicensed sites. It is estimated that thousands of children, mostly between the ages of 15 and 17, have been working in dangerous conditions, pulling ore out of shafts and processing it with toxic mercury, violating Ghanaian and international law. To talk to us about the matter we are joined from Germany by Human Rights Watch Senior Researcher, Juliane Kippenberg For more News visit: http://www.sabc.co.za/news Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SABCNewsOnline?lang=en Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SABCNewsOnline
