During a trip `round Great Britain in July - August 1987, we visited lots of museum railways. Close to Peterborough (Wansford), we found Nene Valley Railway. This was a standard gauged railway and of a special interest for us because we knew we could find some old Swedish engines there - one railcar Class Y7 1212 and two steamengines - Class S 1928 (former the National Swedish railroad company SJ) and Class A 101 (former the private own Stockholm - Vesterås - Bergslagens Jernväg SVBJ). A 101 was fitted with the original smokeshields. In the movie we can see S 1928 working at the railroad yard in Wansford and finally pulling some Skandia-wagons from Wansford to Peterborough.
On the movie, we can also see the famous Thomas, hiding behind bigger engines.
According to NVR Homepage, Class S 1928 was named "Alan Gladen" and left NVR for Turnbridge Wells in 1989 after 16 years service at NVR. Class Y7 1212 left NVR in 1989 for Fleggburgh. About Class A 101, there is nothing mentioned. But in the stocklist for Stored locomotives, there is a Swedish engine marked Class B 101. Something wrong somewhere?
