In 1980, Reed Neilsen & Mark Pearson just scratched the surface in the Top 40 when they peaked at #38 on the Billboard Hot 100, with their first single, "If You Should Sail". That song also made it to #35 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, and only peaked on the Cash Box Top 100 at #52. The following year, they hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart again with a remake Frankie Valli's "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore". While Valli's original version (his first single release) only Bubbled Under at #128, the Walker Brothers took their version to #13 in 1966, while Cher took her version to #26 on the UK charts (but never released in the US) in 1996. Neilsen/Pearson took their version to #56. The song had better chart success on the Billboard AC chart where it peaked at #31. "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" also charted on the Cash Box Top 100, making it to #54. A decent cover version that deserved a better chart fate.
