mrc zd racing 1/16 scale brushed RC 9.6v test 3s cutoff? On the monster truck buggy truggy.

I did not have a charged 7.2v battery pack ready to go so i put a 9.6v pack in to see what might happen , ran great but after a few minuted throttle started to pulse . 3s lipo cut of maybe ? Me testing my monster truck in a parking lot with my team losi crawler tires and tamiya highlift rims with a 9.6v battery pack.
