Michael Waugh has a sound that is uniquely Australian, blending country-inspired folk with traditional storytelling. 'Mafeking Hill' - his second release from his forthcoming album - reflects back on what it was like growing up in his small country town of Maffra in Victoria's East Gippsland farming country.
Similar to the evocative imagery in Michael’s debut single, ‘Heyfield Girl’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyLG4B9NzL8, Michael creates a vivid picture of where he grew up: "The idea in the video story is that, for some, the Saturday nights keep going on. For me, the video is a good reminder of a weekend spent with these men that I love (my dad, John Waugh, my best mate Matt Geraghty and his sons, and my buddy Josh Collings who made the video) – and that I got to spend a weekend with them mucking around in my hometown."
Like all things Michael Waugh, there is a hidden meaning and truth to this video that also makes it a truly special song and video.
