Fire crews lost control of a backburn on the Mt Gosper "mega-fire" leaving 20 structures around Mount Irvine, Mount Wilson and Mount Tomah in the Blue Mountains north-west of Sydney were destroyed as a result. The incident has left firefighting authorities rethinking strategies as the long term forecast calls for above average temperatures and below average rainfall in the months ahead.
