Economists are trying to estimate just what damage the coronavirus is having on the Australian economy. But it's hard to tell in these early stages - and they're relying somewhat on decades-old data from the SARS outbreak for comparison. When the disease hit China in 2003, its economy was a mere fraction of what it is now, and Australia wasn't as enmeshed with it as it is now.
