Presently, Medical Biochemistry tests are performed by different types of “Standard Operation Procedures” (SOPs) and different methods in the Medical Colleges all over the country. Some colleges use methods, which are not relevant to current “Laboratory Practice”. The fact is, some students opt of “Pathology” subject for post-graduation. Many students become “General Practitioners” and many opt for specialization in various other fields of Medicine. For them it becomes necessary to suggest appropriate laboratory tests related to “Specific Cases” and evaluate laboratory reports. Hence, it is necessary to have common SOPs for all the laboratory tests, in the “Syllabi” of all the medical colleges and the methods of the tests should have relevance with current laboratory practice.
