Man accused of peering into girl's window in Clermont County, masturbating arrested

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - A man accused of peering into a girl's bedroom window in Wayne Township and masturbating has been arrested, according to the Clermont County Sheriff's Office. Ernest James Smith, 44, of Wayne Township was arrested at his job in Hamilton County Wednesday afternoon. The girl's father caught the man using a stool to peek into his daughter’s room at their home on Manila Road shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday. The father chased him off the property, but he was able to give the sheriff's office surveillance video of the incident. The sheriff's office said that video led to numerous tips from the public, helping them identify Smith as the suspect. Smith has been charged with one count of voyeurism and one count of possession of criminal tools. He's being held at the Clermont County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond. He's expected in court Thursday morning for arraignment. Detectives are also looking into if Smith has been involved in any other similar incidences.
