In the West Bank town of Hebron, where 400 Jewish settlers live among 100,000 Palestinians, violence erupted when youths pelted Israeli soldiers with stones in the main street. In central Israel, a small group of right-wing Jewish demonstrators opposed to the release of Palestinian detainees held on terrorism charges protested outside a prison.
