So now its going to be even more special. Now in this series I'm not trying to tell you "This is the ONLY way to mix an acoustic song", because truthfully that doesn't exist. I chose this particular song because: 1) I spoke with Evan he agreed to let me do it....thats always good 2) I like the song and the performance 3) There were some sonic challenges based on the recording, so I thought it would be more educational than a song that was "perfectly recorded'. Lets face it even in 2013 the perfect recording is scarce so we need to understand how to work with all material. This is definitely not the only way to mix an acoustic song because every song has its own set of pros and cons. The limitations of this song were the equipment it was recorded on and also the room it was recorded in. The good stuff about this track was that Evan did a great job with the performance, so because we have some tools at our disposal we can try and work around the problems to enhance the good stuff. That's the goal anyway lol. I chose to work with freeware plugins because I wanted to give every viewer the opportunity to take my settings and see how I did what I did. Unfortunately most of the plugs are VSTs, sorry Pro Tools users. You can always download a demo of another DAW if you really want my plug settings or you can just use what I show and try and achieve them in your Work station with your tools. So take what I give you and try to get a better mix. Thanks for watching.
