We love hearing from you. ============== MORE INFO ============== ALWAYS try your best to match one for one from your original wiring to the Nest. Here are the connectors explained: RED=Powers (normally) and goes into Rh or Rc and sometimes has a jumper to connect the two (if your original had a jumper, nest needs one to) Green=Fan (normally) and should go into G Yellow=Cool/Air (A/C) (normally) and usually goes into Y1 Blue=Common (normally) and is used for things that have home automation and goes into C White=Heat (normally) central heating unit can also need a black wire and you might also have a heat pump, but white goes into W1 normally Orange=heat pump (normally) and goes into O/B above Rc Black=staged heat (normally) and goes into * (star connector) also black normally goes into the * Star connector Your system’s wiring may or may not need to use the Nest thermostat’s star connector, so you should always use the compatibility checker to get a custom wiring diagram before connecting any wires to the star connector. Nest Learning Thermostats and the Nest Thermostat E use the star connector a bit differently and support different wires and system features.
