STORYLINE
Tourists continued to enjoy their holidays on Kenya's coast on Wednesday as the death toll from more than five days of post-election violence rose above 300.
In Mombasa, business at beachfront hotels such as the Sarova Whitesands did not appear to have been affected by the unrest in other parts of the resort town.
"Tourists have not been targeted, this is specifically a Kenyan affair. Kenyans really value tourism and they do not target any tourists for that matter," manager Mohamed Hirsi told AP Television.
However, he expressed hope that "peace and sanity" were restored soon in his nation.
Kenya's tourism industry brings in some 900 (M) million US dollars a year and attracts more than one (m) million visitors a year.
But many businesses closed down during the unrest and some foreign governments have advised their citizens against travel to the usually tourist-friendly nation.
The violence was sparked by charges President Mwai Kibaki stole his way to re-election - even his elections chief was quoted on Wednesday as saying he could not be sure who won.
