Andrew Blake's senior recital at Schuster Hall at Wright State University. Recording courtesy of Josh Hefner. Andrew studied trombone performance with Dr. Gretchen McNamara.
Originally for the horn, I have often seen the Richard Strauss Concerto performed on the tuba. It is also common for bass trombonists to study works originally written for the tuba, such as the Ewazen Concerto for Tuba or Bass Trombone and the Ralph Vaughan Williams Concerto for Tuba. I had enjoyed listening to the Strauss Horn Concerto enough that I was inspired to perform a tuba edition of the work on bass trombone.
