A video describing the hike to the Stony Mountain Fire Lookout tower in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, not far from Harrisburg. The video begins at the 325 (Clarks Valley Road) Appalachian Trailhead, follows the AT briefly, forks right onto H. Knauber Trail (red blaze) and reaches the summit of Stony Mountain in State Game Lands 210, also called Anthony's Wilderness. From the summit, you make a right at the cairn and follow the blue blaze trail directly to the firetower, which is about 125 feet tall and offers outstanding views across Dauphin County. This is easily my favorite hike of the area.
Quick Facts- Trailhead elevation: 533 feet. Summit elevation: 1687 feet. Elevation gain: 1154 feet. Distance (one way): about 1.7 miles. Closest towns: Dauphin, Enders, Grantville, Ft. Indiantown Gap, Harrisburg.
