"In order for Merkel to stay at the top without any real ideas, and with the approval of the Social Democrats, the CDU as a party has been more or less given up on," said the leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in parliament Alexander Gauland. He was commenting on the creation of a new German coalition government, in Berlin on Wednesday.
Gauland criticised the outcome of the negotiations, saying "it's not possible to govern in this way."
