Fukubukuro 2020 | Ala Moana Center | Hawaii | New Year

Happy New Year! Join us as we begin 2020 in Ala moana Shopping Center checking out the Fukubukuro Event. Fukubukuro is a Japanese tradition where merchants create mystery grab bags and sell them to customers a lot cheaper than the original price. Fukubukuro actually translates as "Lucky or Good Fortune bags" in English. According to Japanese superstition one must start the New Year Clean, so merchants sell their old items from the previous year for a substantial discount. Ala Moana shopping center on Oahu has adopted this tradition, so we decided to try it out for the first time. The Fukubukuro bags are limited so customers actually wake up very early to stand in line and wait for the stores open.
