What makes it even harder is knowing the tragedy could have been prevented. That’s why this video is so powerful and went so massively viral. In 2013, YouTube prankster Tom Mabe decided to play a brutal prank on his friend who had a terrible habit of drinking and driving. After Ray was charged with his fifth DUI, Tom knew he needed to teach him an important lesson that would not only evoke laughter and relief, but also a heavy dose of fear and self-reflection. Ray’s friends waited until he was once again black-out drunk, then transported him to a space designed to look a hospital room. When he woke up, actors disguised as medical staff told Ray he had been in a coma for 10 years. They even created a fake news report, 10 years in the future, to play on the TV set. After waking up, Ray quickly asks one question: “Where’s my daughter at?” Family is clearly important to him, which is one more reason why his friends know he needs to stop being so careless. How will Ray react to the prank? And do you think his friends took it too far… or not far enough?
