NANAIMO - RCMP in Nanaimo say date rape drugs could be the cause for a recent sexual assault over the weekend. On November 9th, a Vancouver Island University student came forward to police and said she had been assaulted by a man and doesn't remember the night or how the incident happened.
Date rape drugs include GHB and Rohypnol, A.K.A roofies, cause their victims to have hypnotic, sedative and amnesiac side effects and are usually used by men to seduce women.
And a now a second woman is speaking out. She believes she was drugged at a local bar several weeks ago and says she narrowly escaped becoming an assault victim herself.
