Court Declines To Stop 'Machakos City' Project

The high court has dismissed a suit filed by Machakos senator Johnson Muthama seeking the halting of Friday's launch of the new 'Machakos city' project. Muthama had sought orders to stop the ground breaking ceremony to be presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta on grounds that Alfred Mutua had irregularly acquired the land on which the city will be built. Justice Weldon Korir declined to grant the orders saying Muthama was well aware of its launch and instead directed him to properly file the matter and serve the respondents before the close of business on Friday.
