CSTO 'Collective SECURITY TREATY SUMMIT', Russia MILITARY cooperation, CRISIS management, FIGHTING(crime) & Drug Trafficking Moscow, Russia December 19, 2012 -Video from RIA Novosti (Видео с Российское агентство международных новостей) President Vladimir Putin opened the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit in the Moscow Kremlin on Wednesday. Putin thanked his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev for his work during Kazakhstan's presidency of the CSTO, which has now been passed over to Kyrgyzstan. The Russian leader told reporters that the summit will be covering a broad agenda. The collective security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has begun preparations to conduct peacekeeping operations, said Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting the need to stop interference into internal affairs of sovereign states, since this could lead to very serious consequences. "If these principles are ignored and some countries attempt to impose their models on others, consequences may be extremely serious, as evidenced by the dramatic events in the Middle East and Northern Africa. Working as equal partners with common responsibility, we managed to make progress in all areas of our work: military cooperation, fighting international crime, especially drug trafficking, and crisis management." 1.
