Having shoulder impingement happen to yourself certainly is no fun. The more common causes of it are things like poor posture, bad exercises, and a muscle imbalance between your chest and back that causes rounded shoulders. However, knowing where your biceps and triceps attach, could that also cause shoulder issues?
The short head of your biceps attaches directly to your shoulder blade on the Coracoid Process, while the long head of your triceps attaches to it on the Infraglenoid Tubercle. So if you have tight biceps and triceps, they may indeed pull down on your shoulder blade. This could then lead to shoulder impingement where structures in there become more jammed. However, the other causes previously mentioned are likely to be Way more of a factor than this.
Still, it can't hurt to simply massage your biceps and triceps, as well as stretch them. When these are loosened up more, them impacting you through shoulder pain and other issues is likely to be less of a factor.
