The Red Sox sent Drew Pomeranz to the hill to face off against Luis Severino of the Yankees. The Yankees got on the board first in the 2nd inning with a Giancarlo Stanton solo homerun to left. Stanton was back at it again in the 4th, hitting another solo homerun, this time to right field. The Red Sox answered in the 5th, with an Andrew Benintendi single that scored Eduardo Nunez. The Red Sox were able to tie the game in the 7th on a Mookie Betts triple to left that scored Nunez once again. In the bottom half of the frame, the Yankees were able to regain the lead on an Aaron Judge single off of Joe Kelly that scored Neil Walker. Aroldis Chapman came in for the save in the 9th, making quick work and securing the 3-2 win.
