Hey guys welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host, Scott Starbuck, and we're out here today at Footwear News Platform for Magic and all the shows. Come in and check it out. We'll show you some of the amazing lines that we're looking for spring and summer 2015. Let's check it out.
SS: Hey guys we're here at Footwear News Platform with a fabulous designer, Betty Muller, and this is your re-launch of your line.
BM: Yes, it is. It is.
SS: And there's some fabulous stuff here. Betty, tell me about your shoe history. You've been doing this for a little bit.
BM: Well, I've been doing this for quite a long time.
SS: For a minute.
BM: For a minute, maybe a little nanosecond. So I just re-launched the business last year under the umbrella of a very large company, New York Transit.
SS: Sure. I know them well.
BM: And so, different set of rules with a new kind of time, and it's all good.
SS: It gives you time to get inspired again.
BM: Yes, I got all inspired again. Lots of different things. I had never worked in China before. We're doing some product in China as well as continuing with product in Spain, and so I have customers who really love my higher end product. Gotta keep that going.
SS: When you go to canvas shoes and things like that, China's the right place for the right price.
BM: You know you gotta have these.
SS: How adorable are these? They're fabulous.
BM: How adorable are these little sneakers, little pointy toed sneakers. I mean these are retail for $125.
SS: Fabulous. It's a feminine sneaker. Great little shoe. These are leather!
BM: Leather, pointed leather. Who knew?! You can do your own print on that leather in China. Fabrics, all kinds of great fabrics.
SS: Super good. This is a nice way to make it feminine and still dainty, and not a chunky, gross, dude sneaker.
BM: Exactly.
SS: No woman wants a dude sneaker.
BM: It's a boyfriend's sneaker but a little toned down.
SS: Yes. So what else are you inspired by? This is all spring and summer 2015, right?
BM: This is spring and summer 2015. We're back to some of my classic espadrilles.
SS: Gorgeous.
BM: I didn't invent the category, but they're very strong. These are all hand sewn. That's why I go back to Spain. It's called "Putalal," and it's hand sewn. Each one is made individually.
SS: Great craft and a nubuck.
BM: Nice, beautiful nubuck and nice calf as you say.
SS: Open toe, nice slingback. It's adjustable.
SM: Then I've got my little high top gilly going on here.
SS: Espadrilles are on fire right now, so next spring and summer, of course, will be fabulous. Okay, what is this? For what festival are we going to?
BM: Coachella.
SS: This is a Coachella shoe.
BM: This is a Coachella shoe.
SS: For the hippy in us all.
BM: Exactly. Adorable, little Coachella. Love the colors.
SS: Your line's super awesome. The price points are great. I think they're very fun. Who do you think you're mainstay customer is right now?
BM: You know I think it's going to be, as today is, the woman who has her daughter, herself. She's the same customer. She's the woman who has means, who doesn't have means. It's like a crossover of everything.
SS: One thing they have is good taste and good style.
BM: They have good taste and good style.
SS: Well Bettye you're fabulous. Thank you very much.
BM: Thank you. You are too.
SS: I love the line. We have it coming for fall and winter and then of course spring and summer 2015.
BM: Great. I look forward to it.
SS: Look for these at City Soles and citysoles.com. Thanks, Bettye.
BM: Thank you.
