Here are a few tips for assessing ankle mobility. Ankle mobility is important for many functional movement patterns. Restriction in the ankle may inevitably lead to muscle imbalances and compensatory patterns. We commonly see limited ankle movement associated with hypermobility in the foot, poor squat mechanics, or knee pain to name a few. This assessment does not indicate what specifically is causing ankle restriction, but rather points you in the right direction to further investigate the mobility dysfunction. To get thoroughly evaluated visit a sport medicine professional or an SFMA certified practitioner. About Andrew: Aloha!
