Chris Howarth, UWS Director & Founder, explains the logistics of village population and the importance of getting mother's on board to ensure children attend school. http://www.unitedworldschools.org/ Video transcript: ============= We need to make sure that the village has around 120 families, maybe 150. This means that we have sufficient children to sustain a school. I spend a lot of time increasing the enthusiasm with the mothers, getting them onside, getting them to appreciate what we're trying to do, inviting them into the school. Building the school is in some ways the easy bit. The more difficult bit is to get the mindset to get the children to attend school and that's where the mothers are important. Chris talking to the villagers: "Now, are all the mothers prepared to send their children to school?" [Sitha translates for the villagers.] [The villagers raise their hands and smile!]
