The opening statements of the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, who is accused of collaborating in child sex trafficking with the late US financier Jeffrey Epstein, began at a federal court in New York City on Monday.
The sister of the British heiress and confidante of Jeffrey Epstein could be seen leaving the court after a jury was selected early Monday for the case, which is expected to last six weeks.
Sarah Ransome, one of the alleged victims of the couple, were seen also leaving the building.
Maxwell, who has been in a Brooklyn jail since July 2020, has pleaded not guilty in multiple indictments, but the accused has not been released on bail.
The indictment cites four victims who prosecutors say were groomed between 1994 and 2004 when some were as young as 14.
