‘Super Typhoon Rai STORMS Through the Philippines’

Typhoon Rai has barrelled into the Philippines - the 15th to hit the Pacific archipelago this year.

The tropical storm hit the island of Siargao, in the southern province of Surigao del Norte.

It has since intensified to a Category 5 and forced mass evacuations and flight cancellations.

Tens of thousands have fled their homes as the typhoon lashes the islands with high winds and heavy rains.
